GLAMOUR, GLITZ AND STAR POWER AT YORKSHIRE
IIFA 2007 was exceptionally breathtaking since it was not only bigger in magnitude but also more powerful than ever before. And with Power comes Responsibility. Hence, harnessing this power, IIFA launched a crusade against global warming and rolled out a 'Green Carpet'. And walking down this strip of hope was the brigade of cine-stars who pledged their support while donning the real-life role of 'Planet Savers'.
The Weekend witnessed more than 52 events in the span of 4 days!. More than 150 CEOs from UK and India participated in FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum was also organised that was a meeting place for big ideas, international business and networking. Also, the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match was held at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium that saw the IIFA celebrity team of Asia's cricketers with A-list stars from the Indian film fraternity, playing against a UK celebrity cricket team.
The weekend leading up to the mega awards night also showcased a panorama of films at IIFA Film Festival. Spread over five cities of Leeds, the IIFA Weekend saw the fantastic IIFA 'Fringe Festival' with a host of activities like melas, theatre, music, fashion, shopping and food festivals and much more celebrating UK's cultural links with India. The highlight of the show was Doctorates presented to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Minister of Civil Aviation Mr. Praful Patel, Mr. Yash Chopra & Ms. Shabana Azmi by Leeds Metropolitan University. |
