THE FIRST IIFA : THE WORLD STOOD UP TO WATCH AMAZED
Magnificent sets, Spectacular stars and screaming audiences made the first ever IIFA Awards 2000 held at the Millennium Dome, United Kingdom an event to remember. It set out to applaud the achievement of Indian Cinema on a global platform as the Indian stars glittered their way to receive the awards. Held at the Millennium Dome, a host of world artists stupefied the audiences by their performances. Jackie Chan, Angelina Jolie, Thora Birch, Kylie Minogue, Finley Quaye, Miranda Richardson, Sussanah York, Talvin Singh and Ashok Amritraj amongst others kept everyone enchanted.
Another highlight of the show was that the IIFA brand ambassador Mr. Amitabh Bachchan became the first ever Indian film star to be honoured with a wax statue at Madame Tussauds. According to Mr. Bachchan "IIFA is a celebration of Indian Cinema's eventful journey from the Coronation Cinema in Mumbai to the Millennium Dome today." IIFA Awards 2000 was the hottest story on all news channels in United Kingdom. In short, the first ever IIFA Awards rocked London. |
